Most Filipino pupils who graduate now prefer high paying jobs without a lot of job security like working in call centers over lets say more customary work like in banks who provide initially lower salary but far better healthcare and retirement packages. Most do not see their tasks secure or intend to hold on to them for another ten to twenty decades, many see it as a stepping stone to another greener pasture.

However, what does this mean to the business owner? This mindset is healthy for business since worker ambition makes for tougher work, innovation and productivity. Today’s business owner is less capable to change labels on an organization chart. Work duties and direction thinking must be more flexible to earn job descriptions less confining. Every position in the company must be open ended, the way in and way out must be clearly indicated.

But even great benefits and salary package doesn’t ensure that the worker will stay. Filipino workers who begin to feel boxed in or dead ended will end up frustrated and definitely leave no matter how good the fringe benefits are. Todays Pinoy employees want, want and deserve a visible and viable career course in our present socio economic atmosphere.
